Award winning Gold Coast singer/songwriter Holly Terrens is back with an epic pop release, and we’re here to tell you this girl can seriously pen a tune.
There’s nothing flimsy about ‘House of Cards’. Holly shows her versatility by pairing her signature prog-pop writing style with her ever-evolving R&B singer/songwriter influences. Heartfelt and poignant, ‘House of Cards’ is the perfect showcase of Holly’s songwriting and vocal abilities. And holy hell, just wait til the layers kick in about halfway through. If it doesn’t give you goosebumps, you have no soul.

On my first day of University as a music student, a lecturer told the class 'most of you here will not end up working in the music industry'. This statement shocked me, but there was a truth to it. I released my first EP in 2011. The songs sounded great, the shows went great, I did some great interviews and was reviewed favourably.
And then... crickets. I didn't know what to do next. It wasn't until I got a residency in Japan, playing music 6 nights a week that I realised there are many options available in the realm of a music career. (If you follow me on social media, you know I'm an advocate for getting out there and joining the international community). I'm not here to teach you how to get famous because if there were a secret formula, we'd all be famous! Whether you're a part time musician, student or hobbyist - we can all agree that music is much more than a 9-5 job. What I AM here to do, is inspire you on your path to a sustainable career and to encourage you to go in the direction that is fulfilling for your life. |
On a musical note (pun very much intended), I can give you the tools you need to:
Fun fact: I'm also a trained classical flautist. This means that I spent years wrapped up in music theory, preparing for exams and listening to Mozart. When it comes to theory, I show you the rules so you can break them (if you want). Lastly: remember people will always put their own limitations on you regardless of their experience, regardless of their seniority. NEVER put limitations on yourself. Here's to your wildest dreams x |

Why you don't need a backup plan but you do need a planAn entrepreneur, tech student or even law student's ambitions are generally met with approval from others where as artistic pursuits are often met with 'you better learn how to make a good cup of coffee if you want to go down that road'.

The Best Practice Strategies for Singer/SongwritersIf I'm to compare studying a classical instrument to being a singer/songwriter, I believe they each have completely different sets of challenges. Their common denominator though, is practice. |
The Fashion Behind my Music Video by Jonathan PamplingI had a very clear vision of what I wanted - many people thought I was channelling Lady Gaga but I was actually drawing inspiration from Japanese Shironuri fashion...
