STRATEGY #1: HEALTH - MENTAL AND PHYSICAL
When I'm feeling run down, I always end up spending more time mindlessly scrolling through social media or watching Netflix than I do actively chasing my dreams. It's great to wind down after a busy day (or week!), but feeling exhausted is a big dream killer!
When it comes to eating healthy, I like to weigh up my time vs money. When I'm working a lot or just feeling a little run down, I'll make the convenient + super healthy (and therefore a little more expensive) food purchases. When I'm less busy, I'll spend more time in the kitchen thoughtfully preparing healthy meals.
Listen to your body. You don't ALWAYS have to go for a 40 minute run or do an intense fitness class. When I'm feeling a little rundown, I aim to do just 10 mins of stretches in the morning and living in Tokyo means I do a lot of incidental walking throughout the day. It's about habit.
People become strangely opinionated about little life choices when they don't see what is going on under the surface, just don't worry about it. Feeling under the weather and have to keep working? If you can afford it, $12 on a cold pressed juice is not silly. Need to clear your head because you're trying to focus on study and got personal stuff going on? Taking some time out to have coffee with a friend might be just what you need.
STRATEGY #2: TREAT YOURSELF LIKE THE QUEEN/KING YOU ARE
How many people do you know that are all work and no reward? There's always a reason why they can't eat healthy or take an hour out to relax. It's too expensive, theres not enough time. I used to feel like that too, until I realised I didn't need a lot of money and I could in fact make the time.
Here are my fave things to do on a tight time and money budget:
TREATS FOR AROUND $5:
TREATS FOR AROUND $10:
Pick a few favourite quotes and mantras and make sure you look at them, or even say them aloud each day! I love reading Louise Hay, Miranda Kerr's book and watching my fave YouTubers too!
STRATEGY #3 - PLAY THE LONG GAME
Now that you're feeling energetic, happy and healthy; it's time to get to work!
Never underestimate the power of working at something, just a little bit, every day. Keep it balanced and stay focused. Are you spending all your time practicing and not enough time getting out there meeting people? Is your energy so concentrated on the 'hustle' that you're not sharpening your skills every day and becoming the best you could be?
PUT PEN ON PAPER:
What is your definition of success?
What do you want to achieve this month? Within the next 6 months? Within the next 2 years?
Be as clear and detailed as possible so you can celebrate both the big and small wins along your journey.
A goal without a plan is just a wish - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
